The restaurant industry is one of the most obvious areas of surplus food waste.  Finding solutions has drawn increasing attention from many restaurants, both large and small. Darden Restaurants, which includes popular eateries such as Olive Garden and Capital Grille, set a long-term goal of zero waste in its latest sustainability report. Meanwhile, Mason Wartman, owner of Rosa’s Fresh Pizza is Philadelphia has started a pay-it-forward pizza program in which patrons can buy a slice or two of pizza for the less fortunate. These restaurants are only a handful of many that are serving up their own solutions to food waste.
