Food waste is a perpetuating problem in the United States especially because the disposal of food is expensive. The United States spends about 1 billion dollars a year on food disposal. The United States are filled with people that are hungry yet 30%-40% of its food supply is wasted, which is the equivalent to about 20 pounds of food per person in a month’s span. Food waste is hurting our landfills, costing the government billions of dollars and keeping several Americans hungry.
