The 2015 Cabrini College Communication Department senior honors convergence seminar created a
comprehensive, multimedia website focused on food insecurity in America. ServingFoodSolutions.com examines food insecurity from three directions: a description of the problem, the consequences of being food insecure, and possible solutions to this national issue. This informative website examines the food insecurity issue through a variety of perspectives including people personally affected by food insecurity, advocates for the hungry, policy experts, food businesses, medical professionals and more.
This site was assembled by 14 communication seniors who collectively gathered over 60 interviews and created almost 90 pieces of media. A special thanks to Tom O’Donnell, Ph.D., Cabrini College faculty ECG fellow and Sustainability Coordinator for the U.S. EPA for sharing his experience and expertise in reducing food waste. Additional thanks to the Leo and Peggy Pierce Family Foundation for funding part of our project research about American food insecurity.
